COURSE DESCRIPTION
This workshop will focus on the integration of the IFS model in relation to Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).
Following an overview of the diagnosis and treatment of clients with complex PTSD and DID, you will learn how to give your clients the opportunity to feel more security, control, and freedom of choice by developing skills to manage their experience and learning to modulate the experience of being a witness.

- An overview of how to diagnose and treat clients with complex PTSD and DID.
You'll learn:
- When is it necessary and useful to accompany with IFS focused on trauma and dissociation.
- How to teach and use experience management skills, including visualizations of safe containment spaces.
- How to use a protective format during the witnessing and download stages

Joanne H. Twombly, MSW, LICSW (Pronouns: she), is a psychotherapist practicing in Arlington, MA, USA.
She has over thirty years of experience working with C-PTSD and dissociative disorders and offers training and counselling. In addition to her book “Trauma and Dissociation Informed Internal Family Systems,” she has written about EMDR and dissociative disorders, about EMDR and IFS, and about working with perpetrator introjects.
Her commitment to helping her clients heal and providing quality training has led her to become an EMDR Consultant and Humane Trauma and Recovery Assistance Program Facilitator, IFS Certified, and a Consultant with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
She was president of the New England Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. In recognition of her achievements and service on committees and on the Board of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), she was awarded the ISSTD Distinguished Achievement Award and is a Fellow of the ISSTD.
