Transform your life with the IFS Institute

What is the IFS Institute

We collaborate as international partners with the IFS-Institute in the USA. We share a therapeutic approach that explores and works on the internal relationship between parts of a person's psyche to promote healing and emotional integration.

The IFS Institute is a meeting place for all people in the Spanish-speaking IFS community. We welcome you and all your parts. IFS is a movement, an empowering new paradigm for understanding and harmonizing the mind, helping people heal and helping the world become a more compassionate place.

The mission of the IFS Institute is to promote more Self leadership to all people and especially to the Spanish-speaking community. We organize IFS training and supervisions for professionals, offer a directory of professionals for those looking for certified IFS psychotherapists and other learning opportunities for those who want to develop personal growth through IFS.

IFS is an evidence-based, transformative psychotherapy that helps people heal by accessing their protective, wounded inner parts and bringing them the love they have been missing. According to Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, we all have, deep within ourselves, a non-judgmental center that has the characteristics of calm, trust, compassion, courage, curiosity, connection. , clarity and creativity. This center, which in this therapeutic model we call Self, is what allows us a fluid relationship with our “parts.”

IFS starts from the premise of the multiplicity of the mind. That is, we all have "parts", a kind of sub-personalities that are either protective (Managers / Firefighters) or Exiled, that help us live our lives and give meaning to experiences.

They are combinations of vulnerable thoughts and feelings, such as feeling unworthy of love, or feeling like a failure, or feeling bad in some way. When the emotions of these Exiled parts rise to the surface, it is painful and difficult, therefore our protective Directive parts work to prevent these emotions from overwhelming us. When the emotions of the Exiles come, and the Directive protective parts are not enough to prevent feeling the pain of the Exiled parts, the other protectors appear, which we call Firefighters. The Firefighters could be addictive parts, eating disorders, anger, or anything that pushes our Exiled parts out of consciousness.

He discovered this phenomenon by listening to his clients, who described their inner lives made up of many parts almost like an internal family. He developed Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) as a profound way to understand our inner life and care for the Exiled parts.

Training at IFS

Basic training Learn to use the IFS (Internal Family System) model. The theory and practices that make up the model are taught with the help of a methodology that invites participants to explore their own inner world in a context that emphasizes respect and compassion.

Advanced training Deepening and application of the model for different groups The format of this training is similar to that of basic training. It includes teaching elements, personal exercises with small and large groups, and practice sessions in small groups. The program is divided into two modules, each of which addresses certain problems in particular (couples therapy, trauma, etc.).

Advanced training includes demonstrations, exercises based on personal experience and role-playing in both small and large groups. You will benefit so much from the seminar that our goal will not only be to become a psychotherapist (for the patient) but also to become more competent.

The theory and practices that make up the model are taught with the help of a methodology that invites participants to explore their own inner world in a context that emphasizes respect and compassion.
